Weather

Mauritius enjoys a tropical climate, i.e. beautiful and warm all year round. The ideal bathing period is in April and May, followed by October, November and December.

There are two main periods in the year :

  1. A hot and rainy season, from November to April, which corresponds to summer. The weather is very irregular during this summer period. The air temperature is around 30°C and the water temperature is around 27°C. From mid-January to March the risk of rain is greater. The month of February is in principle the month of cyclones, i.e. heavy rains accompanied by wind, and also the hottest month. During this month, it can rain 15 days in a row non-stop. The east coast is in principle more pleasant during this period.
  2. The dry season, from June to September, is a cooler period corresponding to winter. August is the "coolest" month. The air and water temperature is then around 24°C. During this period, the risks of wind and overcast weather are greater on the east coast. The rest of the island keeps in principle clear skies and pleasant temperatures.

The time difference is 2 hours in summer and 2 hours in winter +3h in winter.
